Mum to be Spa
in the Heart of Cheshire

< Back to blog page

Pregnancy is a brilliant reason to book a spa day — time to slow down, be looked after, and actually switch off for a few hours. But it also comes with a perfectly reasonable set of questions. Can I use the pool? Are the treatments safe? What if I'm only a few weeks along?

We've put this together to answer all of it honestly, so you can arrive feeling prepared and leave feeling properly restored.

Can I visit the spa while pregnant?

Yes, absolutely. Pregnancy is one of the times when a spa day can feel most worthwhile — and we've thought carefully about how to make your visit comfortable, safe, and genuinely enjoyable from start to finish.

Whether you're glowing in your second trimester or finding the final stretch a little relentless, you're very welcome here. We'll just ask a few questions when you book so we can tailor things properly.

What about the first trimester — is it too early?

The first trimester (up to 12 weeks) is a time when we take extra care. If you're booking during this period, or in the final two weeks before your due date, we'll ask you to complete an additional disclaimer and some treatments may need to be adjusted or won't be available. This isn't us being overly cautious — it's just how we look after you properly.

If you're unsure whether it's the right time to visit, have a quick chat with your GP or midwife first. They know your pregnancy best, and it's always worth checking in with them before any spa treatment.

Which treatments can I have?

Once you're past 12 weeks, you can book one of our specialist pregnancy treatments: the Yummy Mummy treatment or a tailored facial. Both are designed specifically for expectant mums, with positioning, products, and pressure all adapted to make sure you're completely supported and comfortable throughout.

We'd steer away from standard massages and body treatments that haven't been adjusted for pregnancy — not because they're necessarily harmful, but because the bespoke versions are genuinely better suited to where you are right now.

Can I use the pool?

Yes. The pool is one of the loveliest parts of a spa day here and you're very welcome to enjoy it. Just take things at your own pace — if something doesn't feel right, step out and rest. Our team are always around.

What about the sauna, steam room, and hydrotherapy?

You can use these, but with a little more care. We suggest keeping any sessions at temperatures above 40°C to around 5–10 minutes at a time. Afterwards, move to a cooler area, take a proper rest, and make sure you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Overheating is the main thing to be mindful of — short sessions with proper breaks in between is the approach we'd recommend.

Are there any facilities I should avoid?

A few, yes — and it's worth knowing about them before you arrive.

The ice plunge bath, drench shower, and bucket shower — these are the more extreme cold experiences. We'd suggest skipping these during pregnancy. Sudden cold immersion isn't something we'd recommend while you're expecting, even if you've used them before.

The salt shed — this is a lovely experience, but if you're sensitive to prolonged heat or essential oils, it's worth giving it a miss on this visit.

Everything else, including the spa garden and relaxation areas, is yours to enjoy at your own pace.

What if I start to feel unwell during my visit?

Please tell a member of our team straight away. We'd much rather know so we can help you feel comfortable — whether that's finding you a quiet space to rest, bringing you water, or just checking in. You won't be the first guest to need a slower pace, and there's no rush or pressure here.

Do I need to tell anyone I'm pregnant when I book?

Yes, please do. It means we can make sure your treatments are booked correctly, any necessary forms are ready for you, and our team know how to look after you from the moment you arrive. You don't need to go into detail — just let us know you're expecting and how far along you are, and we'll take it from there.

Can I bring a friend or partner who isn't pregnant?

Of course. Non-pregnant guests can use all facilities as normal, and you'll share the same relaxation areas, pool, and dining experience together.

Any final thoughts?

A spa day during pregnancy is genuinely one of the nicest things you can do for yourself — and for your body, which is doing quite a lot right now. We've tried to think through everything so you don't have to, but if there's anything we haven't covered here, just get in touch before you book. We're happy to talk it through.
