Why Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days to book a spa break
Midweek
Spa Saty
Most people save their spa breaks for the weekend. That's exactly why you shouldn't.
Weekends are busy. Robes queue at the pool. Sun loungers disappear before ten. The whole point of slowing down — switching off, finding a moment of actual quiet — is harder to come by when everyone else has had the same idea.
Midweek is different. And once you've experienced it, going back feels like a strange kind of self-sabotage.
What actually changes when you go midweek
It's not just about fewer people, though that matters. It's about pace.
On a Tuesday or Wednesday, the pool is calm. The thermal spaces feel like they belong to you. Staff have more time. You're not counting down to checkout because work starts Monday — you're genuinely in it. There's a particular quality to midweek stillness that weekends, however well-intentioned, rarely manage.
Who it's really for
Midweek spa stays suit more people than you'd think. If any of these sound familiar, you're probably overdue one.
Couples
Weekends can feel like performance. Fully-booked dining rooms, busy pools, the subtle pressure of making the most of it. Midweek removes all of that. It's quieter, more private, and — without the ambient noise of a Saturday — tends to feel more romantic by default. You have space to actually be together, rather than navigate around everyone else.
Remote workers
If you work from home, Tuesday or Wednesday is the easiest day to disappear without it costing you a full week. Check out on a Wednesday morning, pick up where you left off Thursday — and in between, an overnight that genuinely resets you rather than just pausing the same four walls. A change of environment does what no productivity hack quite manages.
Empty nesters
The children are grown. The weekends are finally yours again. Midweek takes that one step further — the spa to yourselves, a slower dinner, a morning where the only agenda is breakfast and a final swim. No school holiday crowds, no couples on babysitter-fuelled Saturday nights. Just the kind of quiet that feels earned.
Locals wanting a night away
You don't need to go far to feel like you've properly got away. A Tuesday night at Manor House Alsager — ten minutes down the road for many of our guests — lands differently than you'd expect. The pool, a good dinner, a bed that isn't yours, and no commute in the morning. Sometimes proximity is the point.
The value case
Midweek spa packages are almost always better priced than weekend equivalents — and at Manor House Alsager, that's built into how our midweek breaks are structured.
You're getting the same pool, the same thermal circuit, the same rooms — at a rate that reflects the quieter days. That's not a trade-off. It's a straightforward win.
Combine that with easier road travel on a Tuesday or Wednesday, and the whole trip tends to feel less effortful. Less rush, more room to actually settle in.
Our midweek packages
Mid Week Reset — Tuesday
Arrive, check in, and spend the afternoon in the spa before dinner at The Stables. The following morning is yours: a late breakfast, another few hours in the pool and thermal spaces, and a checkout time that doesn't feel punishing. It's the reset that actually works — not a rushed couple of hours squeezed around a weekend schedule.
Reset and Relax — Wednesday
The Wednesday package suits those who want to arrive after a working morning and make the most of the afternoon and evening. Dinner included, full spa access, and a gentle start to Thursday.
Both packages include access to our indoor pool, two swim-up bars, halotherapy, and — from June 2026 — The Courtyard, our new outdoor magnesium pool.
There's no bad midweek
Spring and autumn are the finest times for a midweek stay at Manor House Alsager — the grounds at their best, the outdoor spaces coming into their own. Summer midweeks are beautiful, especially with The Courtyard opening this June. Winter Tuesdays have their own particular appeal: low light, a warm pool, and nowhere to be.
The honest answer is that there's no bad midweek. There are just weekends that could have been Tuesdays.
